TC Electronic: PolyTune

TC Electronic/Helicon has been batting 1000 for as long as I can remember. They have a slew of guitar pedals that are analog with digital control, the infamous G-Major processor, Finalizer, and newer vocal pedals such as the Harmony-G XT. The list goes on…

They’ve broken new technological ground with their latest pedal: PolyTune.

Guitarists everywhere can now just strum their open strings and the LED display shows the tune status of each string independently of each other! Find the bad ones, tune, and you’re rocking! It’ll save some time no doubt. Instead of tuning one string at a time, you’ll instantly see the out of tune strings.

BLAM.

(…that was TC blowing my mind again)

I can’t wait to get my hands on one and give it a proper go-round. You can get more information on TC Electronic and the PolyTune here: http://www.tcelectronic.com/polytune.asp

Akai utilizes iPhone/iPod Touch technology

The wizards at Akai (famous for their sampler lines world-wide) have come up with an ingenious way to integrate the iPod Touch/iPhone technologies with their sampler/controller line. Enter the iPk25.
It’s a 25-key controller which hosts the i-gadget. Load up the Akai app (avail via iTunes) and you’re making tunes. Want people to hear them? Dude, just plug in the audio outs to your PA system. When you get back from the streets, plug the controller into your computer via USB and it becomes a standard MIDI controller for your workstation.

I want one.

BRILLIANT.

Congratulations: Ramon Sampson

On January 11th, 2010, Guitar Center Announced the winner of the Guitar Center Annual Drum-Off competition. Drummers from all over the US compete through tough rounds of competition ranging from store finals, regional finals, semi, etc. Lots of heavyweights in the audience as well, like Tool’s Danny Carey. Ramon Sampson prevailed. Nice tip ‘o the hat to Michael, btw.
